My Teaching Mandate
    the code I worked and lived by as a teacher
Personal Attitude - as leader and role-model of the
children:
* Primary concern to enable, motivate students re self-love, -
discipline, -motivation and creative expression
* Focus on attending to student at their need – emotional, physical,
spiritual, cognitive – listed in that general priority
* Approach general teaching to individuals within a group rather
than a group of students
* Friendly yet orderly space to allow students to feel safe and
directed
* Being present at door to greet children when they entered and
saying good-bye when they left, anthem, opening and closing prayer
* Cheery bulletin boards and display of current student work,
ongoing tidiness
* Organized daily and long-range lesson planning
* Traditional desk-layout for lesson-work; desks in groups or at edge
of room for creative or student-led activities
Teacher-directed activities planned to ensure secure
classroom environment:
* Allow for personal contact and plenty of interaction.

* Forgiveness of mistakes and bad behaviour alongside trust and acceptance
of the individual is fundamental.

* Keep strict standards of interpersonal relationships as priority for children
to value.

* Let them solve their own problems with the understanding that they must
come back to me -  smiling and satisfied.

* Enjoy them!

* Talk TO them, NOT at them.

* No secrets.
Classroom Environment:
* Meditation and prayer
* Discussion and debate of class-community needs for growth and personal
issues as they arose
* Time-out to rest – laying their head down at desks for older children or nap-
time for kindergarten

* Spontaneous free-play
* Physical work-out to release stress in addition to Gym Class
* Free-time to finish work, clean classroom and personal work-space

* Interactive approach rather than teacher-based instruction with heavy stress
on individual instruction and buddy-teaching
* Holistic coverage of concepts – listening and speaking, reading and writing
* Role modeling solid work ethics
* Fair yet firm judgment calls
